I Want To Set Up Multiroom FTA On The Cheap: How Do I Do It?

I messed the title up a bit.....Free To Air is what I am trying to set up. Gave up on my folks getting the finger out and ringing Sky.

    Starting Equipment
1 old Sky satellite with standard LNB
    1 Sky Box
1 Blue "yellow house" Sky Card.
    1 cheapo satellite signal finder

What do I need, in addition to what I have, to set up two rooms independently with free view. I really only want to use one satellite dish, if possible.

Will a freeview box I get from a seller in England {say, off Ebay} be of any use here in the Republic, or are they region specific???

With the cheapo satellite finder, will I be able to align the satellite or would I really need a "pro" to install it for me??

All and any suggestions much appreciated. Ta.

A quad lnb fitted to your dish and cable to each point should do it. A minor realignment of your dish may be needed. A freeview box is terrestrial, useless for satellite.

I believe he's looking for FTA satellite, but used the word "Freeview" by mistake.

Yes, free to air satellite is what I want, using a dish, a quad as someone suggested, and the sky box.,

So..what box do y'all suggest I use for the other rooms? Sky boxes seem pretty pricey on ebay.

    Cheers.

I'd get the new BBC Freesat boxes with EPG, etc. But they are only starting to arrive , so you may have to wait a month or two.

If you are in a hurry get a standard FTA box which will give you all the standard definition channels but without the 7 day epg.

Sky boxes are dirt cheap on adverts! There was one there for 40 quid including a remote the other day, tho I see the seller has added a magic eye and an RF distribution amp (and upped the price).

Someone else was selling a lot of 5 I think, don't think they had remotes (which are pricey) tho, for €25 each.

I think the general price trend on sky boxes both new and second hand will be downwards.

I should imagine so, thanks to the assault from the BBC/ITV on Skys digital position!
