Hey, Im doing my thesis on vintage clothes in dublin today and i would love some peoples opinions:

    Do you wear vintage?
If so where do you buy it?
Why do you think its popular?

Any thoughts at all on the matter would be great!:pac:

I dont have too much but I did get a wonderful blue silk dress in wildchild for 30 odd euro. Its nice to find something you know you're not going to see replicas of on the highstreet-you know- the mass produced look:pac:.
I also bought a bag for someone in the same place and she loved it

i like the vintage look but im more of am 80's girl really!! jenny vanders is one of the better places but expensive. there is a new place/market in town i think on drury st called "A store is born" which seems really good too. i think celebs have made it more popular....the olsen twins, mischa barton etc.

Do we have a fashion forum? Might get more of a response over there.

I like vintage stuff, but like any look some people turn it into a bit of a cliche and you'll see groups of friends all wearing the same thing. If you're good at combining it with other stuff then it's cool. I have a trawl through Harlequin most days I'm in Dublin. I picked up a military jacket there a couple of years ago and it's brilliant. Looks deadly and it's incredibly warm.

I have a suspicion it's better for girls because there are usually lots of funky dresses, whereas the guys sections usually have 50 bajillion cheap looking ugly leather jackets and tweed jackets in unpleasant colours, plus alot of t-shirts that aren't really vintage in any sense of the word except that they're shabby and shapeless. You could be trawling through the stuff on a regular basis for a long time and not turn up anything nice, whereas 20 minutes in TK Maxx will often turn up more interesting stuff at better prices.
