    Lads, quick question...

I want to watch some video files on my 32" LG Tv by connecting my Macbook Pro to it. Can someone tell me what connection I need?

I know I some sort of adaptor with it.

    Cheers

Assuming your TV is an LCD/plasma, it should have either HDMI, DVI or VGA connections.
For HDMI, use a DVI-to-HDMI cable.

All that you need then is a 3.5mm-to-Twin phono (red & white) audio cable, which goes into audio-in jacks on either your TV or your HiFi/amplifier.
You can also get an optical 3.5mm jack from some companies which will deliver 5.1 sound IIRC.

I tried this recently and found the TV (a Samsung 32" LCD) would not let the computer access the full resolution of the screen. It's capable of 1366x768 native but the Mac would only see it as either 1024x768 or 1280x720. This was via a DVI to HDMI connection from a MBP.

I've also has similar issues with a Mac Mini and a 40" Samsung LCD - same resolutions available meaning some scaling and stretching.

    cheers for the help mate.

These are the connections my tv has: DVI Input (pc and video), two scarts, composite video input, component video input, S-video input, stereo audio inputs, RF Inputs

then use a dvi-dvi cable for video and then a 3.5mm jack to 2 rca (red & white) for audio into the stereo audio inputs
