Not feeling well - Whats going on with my dreaming?

I've been to the doctor this week with general flu like symptoms, freezing and sweating one minute, cold the next, lack of appetite and bad fatigue.. so she has me sorted out with a cert, an antibiotic and paracetamol.. so on that score I'm not looking for medical advice.

What is really bothering me is the mad, incoherent, mixed up, muddled unexplainable dreams I keep having at night when I'm "asleep" since I started feeling unwell at the weekend. They're not about a specific thing, or person, just well... mixed up thoughts all over the place! They're driving me mad because its impossible to rest with them. If I fall asleep during the day it doesnt seem to happen.

Has anyone else ever experienced these really annoying weird dreams when they werent feeling well? Whats causing them??

Sounds like normal dreams.......but if you're remembering them all, it seems you are waking up a lot. We normaally dream about 5 times a night, but only remember the last one when we wake. Alternatively, you're not fully asleep and having waking dreams (the kind wher you incorporate the radio and any noises around you) or hypnagogic hallucinations - which are a kind of dream & nothing to worry about. The more you worry about them the less likely yuo'll sleep soundly!

hey - I get the same thing when I am sick - I dont know why but a few years ago I was very sick and they were terrible nightmares but they passed once I started getting better.

I used to get them day and night whenever I slept but each to their own when sick

The weird thing with mine was that when I faced them (the scary creatures in my dream and spoke to them - dont ask I was slightly dillusional at this stage) they went away (and were replaced by less weird nightmares)

hope they pass soon, its just your body trying to fight the flu that's all - they'll pass soon enough

Having weird dreams when sick is extremely normal - it's usually a sign of having a temperature.

    Bingo!

Happens to me when im sick aswell, don't worry about it.. the weird dreams will pass. I actually got the same thing when i was giving up smokes.

Last night i dreamt about my girlfriends mother losing all her money gambling in galway, when everyone found out people did a run around for her, and gave her a digout.. next thing i know, im being mugged by some of my mates for money to give to her. Weirdest ever!

Won't be telling my girlfriend though :D
