Not sure if this has come up before on boards, am sure some people will find it useful...

Rang up Sky yesterday to cancel the sport package now that the Premiership is finished as I only really have it for that (although will watch rugby/masters football every now and then).

Told the Scottish girl why I was cancelling and that I would reinstate the package once the premiership restarted. She told me she could offer the sports package to me for €5 per month until 13 August when it would return to full price.

Decided to take her up on the offer :)

I called yesterday afternoon to cancel Sky Sports for the same reason (I was only subscribed to Sky Sports 1). I was asked the usual questions about would I not be interested in this or that event being shown live over the summer and they eventually agreed to cancel it - no mention of the €5 per month offer!

It was still on at 10pm.

I'm not making it up honest :D

I think the offer may have only started yesterday (think she mentioned something like that) so perhaps not all operators knew about it.

I dropped Sky Sports and Movies on Monday of this week - the guy never even tried to get me keep them - just accepted it and said it was done, which i was happy with.

Wouldn't have kept the sports even for €5 per month as i'm not into Golf or Cricket.

Over on Digitalspy people are getting offered Setanta for £4.99 for three months when they are ringing up to cancel for the Summer.

Rang up and cancelled - no luck! I will wait until Friday and get it back on for Smackdown that night! Ah well, you have to chance your arm at these things!

    August 13th,nearly 3 months off.
Saw an ad on Sky telling people not to despair over the lack of football/sport over the summer and advertising the new season in August .
    Typical Sky bull**** as usual.
Season has no sooner ended and they are advertising next season.
Of course when August comes they will put the prices up again.
    Jokers that lot.
Every major sporting event over the summer is free anyway ,must disgust Sky.
