Has anyone applied for Film and Television?

    Hi there,

I applied for Film and Television in GMIT and the Interview that took place on April 16th, I thought went very well. My first question is this; Does anyone have any idea when I will get some feedback from GMIT? in regard to me either getting into the course or getting refused.

Second, I got my CAO details in the mail yesterday and my FETAC details were incorrect. I completed a FETAC course in Media Engineering last year and then went on to study Construction Management in GMIT this year. But alas I dropped out in January of this year (It really wasn't for me).

On the Details that CAO sent me it says that, I am completing a course this year (which I am not) and it has some sort of reference code. I checked my CAO account online and the details on there had also changed. But I cannot change them online.

My biggest question and most worrying is this; Considering my CAO details are incorrect and that I have already gone through the interview process with GMIT. Surely they would have the wrong details, would they not? Also, If I inform CAO of the mistake, I would of already been processed in GMIT and I might not get in. I will be really disappointed If I don't get in, I have no other plans for the year and I put a lot of effort into my Portfolio.

If anyone has any answers or recommendations on what to do, It will be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Irishwiseguy.

    Thanks for the reply,

I went up to CAO and sorted out my details, the lady there said I doubt I would have a problem with GMIT.

Does anyone have any idea when I will hear from GMIT? I assume it won't be until August.

    Thanks again,

    Irishwiseguy.

one of my friends started last year. And she thinks she heard back round now or the next week or so.

good choice on the course I am an ex-student and felt it was well worth it.
    good luck :)

Coincidentally I heard from them today. Thankfully I got through to the next round. I will have to check my CAO again to see if the details are correct.

    Thanks again for the help,

A bit off topic, but can you tell me how is the course? What's good and what's bad?

Overall I am enjoying it, my favorite subjects been; photography, script and editing. A lot of it so far has been pretty basic, so if you have experience in lets say cinematography you might feel a little disheartened at first. I had quite a bit of knowledge already going in with cinematography, film techniques and editing, but its really starting to pick up now. But as well it really makes you get out there and make films, which is of course the best way to learn.

The majority of lecturers are great, with the odd dud. But overall I think the course is great, I'm starting to learn a lot and I have met some really cool people.

    Highly recommended,

    Irishwiseguy.

    That Beta will kill ya!

Thankfully you never have to look at it again after the first semester... then onto iMovie.

    See ya in the hallways.;)
