    Optoma HD65 projector.

Best (read cheapest) place to purchase one of these?

Have been doing much Googling and have a few places in mind, but would like to know if there are any others that I may not have chanced across.

    Any help appreciated.

    :)

    Blah.

Couldn't be bothered waiting to see if there was anywhere I had missed so just went and ordered it from eBay today.

I'd hope that it goes without saying that when buying any high-value item off ebay you need to be hyper-paranoid.

In general I'd never buy of a private user, only off a store front.

    Good luck !

Nah. No paranoia. It is an eBay store which makes it that little bit better than a private eBay trader.

www.whybuynew.co.uk/ is the users main site.

    good price from that seller

Komplett are selling it for 730euro!

Great Projector btw, first one I've ever got and am delighted with it. HD looks brilliant on it, and it really shows how bad the quality is on sky sports etc compared to HD channels like BBC HD.

Xvids also look great on it, I thought they would look shockingly bad but they look fine.

Haven't tried it yet but I have been reading up on it like a mad man. Some excellent reviews and few if no issues as yet.

You think the Komplett price is bad? Have a look at THIS one!

I'm thinking of buying one of these from them too.
Hope it's not too good to be true!

    Well...

He posted it on Monday and it arrived today.

Shame it was just as I was waking up and not yet dressed. Thought it was visitors for the neighbours as they always ring our bell. Ended up that I missed the delivery by 20 minutes by the time I realised that it could have been the projector. Rang Nightline, the company delivering it, and unfortunately he wasn't going to be in the area again tonight so will have to wait til tomorrow.

So pretty good stuff from WhyBuyNew. Will tell you more when I get it and get a chance to use it.

Edit: Also just bought one of THESE little beauties to go with it til I get the Media PC built (Lord knows when).

Good idea investing in a good Blu-ray player or high quality Upsizing DVD when buying a HD65.

One of the HD65's biggest weaknesses is its ability to handle SD content as it usually produces a poor image.

My HD65 is used with a PS3 which also has a fantastic DVD upscaler built in.

Tried it with a standard upscaling DVD player with HDMI and the picture was terrible.

This is how the HD65 is such a low price for a 720p projector compared to its competitors, the Panni AX200 and BenQ W500 as both of these more expensive 720p PJ's are much more capable of upscaling SD content correctly.

Saying that, my HD65 look fantastic when used with 1080p or on my PS3.

    Couldn't by happier.

Caught the second attempted delivery today. Managed to have a go before heading into work.

Set it up using the Sony DVD player using the RGB Composite cable. Curtains closed but still considerable light coming in and I was still well impressed with the quality. I'm currently projecting onto a Magnolia coloured wall. Black definition isn't great but with a screen would be fantastic.

Got home shortly after 2am tonight and fired it up again. This time with my laptop attached. First used S-Video. Not great as it didn't adjust to the right resolution output. Still more than watchable. Hooked it up with VGA and OH MY GOD! Better quality than you would find in most cinemas these days. Picture was crystal clear with very little adjustment needing doing. Quick Zoom, Focus and levelling of the projector and I was good to go.

Tried several HD MKV files I aquired to try it with. I know it isn't true HD but on the laptop the image was perfect with no pixelation or artefacting. Same was to be said on the projector image. Noticed a little flicker every so often so changed the refresh rate of the external output to 59Hz instead of 60Hz and it was sorted.

I really can't recommend this projector enough (so far anyway). Would definitely recommend the shop/eBay seller I purchased from too. 2 days from the UK to my door (3 if you include the fact I missed the first delivery). Ah well. My own fault.

Link is in one of my other posts for the website or you can just search eBay for the same name (Why Buy New).

I am a very Happy Bunny. Can't wait to move into the new place so I can set it up properly. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I intend buying one of these as well in the next month or two. The comment that divx's look great on it was welcome.
