Sky - summer switch off

Going on a family holiday during summer. Could be away from six to eight weeks. Would prefer not to have to pay Sky for the period. Checked if I could do a full break from Sky but there are certain channels that the rest of the family want and life is too short ;)

Can I get a steer on the best way to do this?

    1) Do I need to give a full month's notice? Looking at the posts, presume "in writing" is the easiest option all round. Anything I need to watch for?

    2) When back from holidays, could I expect to have any offers to rejoin or is 6 /8 weeks too short? Friends referral etc or Return Offer, New SKY+ box etc.

    3) Will Sky send a new card or reactivate the old one? The reason for asking is that the rest of my family may not be as patient as myself for the additional Sky channels to reappear

    TIA

Just phone up and cancel your package giving the 30 days notice. When you get back, just call them and they will reinstate your viewing. You can get refer a friend etc unless you are a new customer.

The other option is to take the box and dish down and when you get back, call up and get Sky as a new customer in the name of another family member. Sky in our house used to be under my father's name - the box broke and they wouldn't replace it without a large fee so we cancelled and a week later I had Sky in my name as a new customer. Its perfectly legal - as long as its not in the same name!:D
