and it still can't display www.independent.ie properly. Midway down it can create the focus boxes around all the hyperlinks but doesn't actually display them. Pity - good browser otherwise though.

I thought it usually displays it at the top when the latest one comes out, but I tried the beta of 4.1 and the proper version of 4 but it doesn't.

guys, opera mini uses a proxy. Be careful with sending off sensitive information.

I'm debating whether or not to download and install this, or to just continue using IE.

Anyone help out a Windows Mobile virgin and recommend which is the best option?

pie has some small advantages (copy paste all/any text on a page, is, eh, the only one I can think of right now...)...
i use om on a tytn I, beats pie in many aspects:
loading time is much much faster thanks to compression...a 300kb page I regularly visit is loaded at about 30kb - pocket IE takes up to 2 minutes to load the page, om? About 5-10 seconds.. Personally, I don't need another reason, but here: om lets you scroll page with finger, going back or forward a page takes a fraction of the time... 4.1 has download and upload without using built in browser... It now has an inline editor ... Oh what else?.... i suggest installing it - at least to use it for quick browsing...yep, some pages/downloads work better with pie, so whenever om struggles, I switch to pie, and thats the rare occasion...
disadvantage I see is usually a matter of the jvm in your wm - some don't give you full screen, so if your wm has a small screen, you may not want to put up with those 2 bars stealing screen property... Still: the time you spend looking at a loading-ding-ding-ding page with PIE is just too much when you've used om for a while - and again: the 2 can live side by side, so when a site cause probs for om, use PIE and vice versa; om is only 125kb...
though honestly: i'D MOST LIKE TO SEE TEASHARK for wm... The tabbed browsing is just too great

    Thanks Strecker,

I tried downloading it on my TyTN II this morning, however, it says it can't determine what device i'm using.

It does allow me to try out OM 4.1 - but it never actually installs. The only thing i can download from that page seems to be OM 3.

Anyone experience this or is it just me?

    Thanks

Using it on my K610i very good indeed even had a sneaky browse of Boards at work today! I prefer the full screen version with the zoom most sites seem to work fine. NIce interface and quite fast too.

you can download and save it, then install from inside your java vm (assuming it allows you to browse locally for java-install files?!)? Or better yet, download to pc, then move to tytn....
    Sorry, didn't have that prob, but mine's a measly tytn I.... :P

Maybe I've misunderstood but is a secure connection not secure through a proxy aswell?

And I can't login to Boards with this new version. The login page brings me to the page which says I've logged in and I'm being redirected and then brings me back to the login page again.

when you get there, hit "reload page" in om menu... That should work... Has been like that for me with om4 as well!

Hands down the best way to browse the net on a windows mobile phone. Finally i can check ulsterbank anytime banking on this version. Have to download some tweaks to make it default browser and get rid of those airtime messages and mortscript for when u click a link om will be used.

Very rarely use PIE now, just for one or two sites om isnt able for yet.

Opera Mini uses a proxy though.
And don't they say that your info isn't necessarily secure when using it.
So would Internet banking on Opera Mini be wise?
