Help identifying bird

I was watching the birds out the kitchen window today. I had just cut the grass so there were dozens of starlings getting stuck into all lovely bugs.
Then two strange looking birds came along. They looked like crows (at least, what I call crows).... big, black, only their head looked 'fuzzy'. For want of a better description they were wearing afro wigs.
Never saw that before. Could they be young crows I wonder and not completely molted?

From the description I would say young Jackdaws

Did an image search and I'd say you're right. So that's what jackdaws look like. I always called them crows :) Thanks for that.
