    Hi All, new user here.

I’m in the process of buying a 3 bed semi d in Dublin, back garden is south easterly facing, we’re planning on putting a 40 square metre single story extension across the back of the house, the existing house is 1100 square feet.
We’re very keen on making the property as green & energy efficient as possible and with that in mind we’re interesting in using solar panels & a wood pellet boiler. We’re also going to insulate the extension as much as possible while also dry lining the interior of the walls at the front of the house.

Is there anything else that anyone would recommend?
Also, could anyone recommend any companies on Dublin’s Northside (or which operate in this area) who specialise in renewable heating?

    thanks

Short answer - get a BER assessor . one who is also an experienced building profesional ( architect/engineer/quantity surveyor ) .

    3 pronged approach

    1. insulation
    2. air tightness
    3. heating + ventilation strategy

A BER assesor will advise acrross all issues

In addition to sinnerboys adivce, i would recommend you look at the logistics of having woodpellet on a semi d property in Dublin.. have you adequet storage for the bulk delivery?

And for solar.. my concerns would be with possible shadind from other property in the area, this would effect the sizing of the system.
