Okay so there's been much media debate regarding whether ladies have gotten too skinny in recent months.

I want to know what the Irish guys think!! Would you prefer the curvy lady - say size 12 to 14 or would you prefer no bumps and straight skiny - size 0 and size 8????

Hey you can be curvy at 16 with ample boobs and good bum! 18 a bit too far. 12 maybe a bit on the slim side. Come on boys set the record straight!

I prefer curves. I'm not into that Kiera Knightly bag of bones shít. It's just wrong.

And women who think the size zero looks good aren't listening to 90% of men. They are listening to the 'media'.

Nah - size 12+ would do nothing for me - Well, we are looking for honesty here right! And you can have a curvy size 12.:D

Ok lets do a poll! What size do you think would be the perfect size?

    The ladies are awaiting!:D

you see the problem with that question jen is that someone could be size 14 but carry it so well that she looks like a size 12 so it might be too specific a question for the men!!

Curves definately, nothing like a bit of meat on them bones. Besides... us men need something to grab onto and steady ourselves every so often, right? :P

wouldn't go for extremely skinny or extremely curvy, but would probably go more for slimmer figure... do like kiera knightley :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,316 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

Skinny, but with enough fat to hide them ribs. Bag of bones ain't sexy.

Think the word that suits them ladies is "toned". Boo-yeah!

For me its all relative, i cant say that i prefer one type over the other.
Ive dated curvey and slim girls and for me its all about their attitude about
it, curvey women that are confident and can carry it off and are not always
concerned about what others think and slim women that are happy with themselfs.
I know it doesnt make sence but for me its about if a women is happy confident inherself it kind of shines through and they are more attractive

very good answer corrado - you certainly do take these polls in the most politically correct manner!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,258 ✭✭✭MrVestek

sara ramirez definately looks wise although to be perfectly fair for me it's the whole package that I go for, not just looks. I've been with overweight people in the past and I've been with skinnier people in the past (I'm sounding like corrado's echo now...) and again it's all about the full package, mind body and soul if you will.

If we're just talking looks alone I prefer someone who's alot curvier but at the end of the day unless you're in an incredily shallow or sex only relationship it's not just all about that, is it?

Well just being skinny or curvy doesn't make a girl attractive, even just on a physical/sexual level. I'm sure we can all think of a size 6 or a size 16 Butterface girl. Also it's all about attitude, confidence, all that ****e. But from personal experience I think guys and girls have drastically different ideas of what constitutes an acceptable level of skinniness. I'm a size 8, 5'8", most of the comments I get from lads are along the lines of "ffs have a sandwich wudja", with girls it's more like "oh my god you're so skinny I hate you how do you do that is it atkins it's atkins isn't it". Tends to go the same way with what's an acceptable level of not skinniness as well, if a generously proportioned girl (size 14ish) is being discussed by guys and girls, in my experience most girls will go "she's gorgeous, she's got such lovely tits and she's so pleasantly curvy" and most guys will go "yuck imagine the sweat in her ass crack I bet it's rotten"

I've lost sight of my point :o

you might have lost sight of your point but i get it loud and clear

MEN ARE FROM GOD KNOWS WHERE!!

just a question... is skinny more negitive term than curvy? making it an unbalanced choice, is curvy to fat what slim is to skinny

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 361 ✭✭smellybiker

when starting this thread, i used these specific terms .... as they were the only ones that came to mind - they mean exactly what they say. skinny is the slim size of 8 and 10, curvy being the heavier size of 14 - 16

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,475 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

yeah i guessed that, not trying to start a debate or anything :) just wondering is it an negitive to call a girl skinny or can it be taken in a positive way and the same for curvy...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 361 ✭✭smellybiker

well i personally think curvy and skinny are better than anorexic and fat which is very commonly used these days - it's up to the person i guess

ekk don't think anorexic and fat don't are comparable really

    would say
    skinny equivalent to fat
    anorexic equivalent to obese
slim or something equivalent to curvy

I don't know, i think people get judged on there appearance and making issue of weight just doesn't help anyone, people know what they look like themselves and have enough insecurities without people passing comment... and if they do they could at least show some tact... not talking about this thread but just having a real life rant... and i know for women its probably worse

Another question, do you think people are attracted to somebody close to there own build, like going for somebody about the same height? Or are people just attracted to something like the celeb types like brad pitt and angalina jolie

i've seen single people in action - when trying to pull i mean. i've seen both women and men screen the opposite sex to assess their potential. what happens is that people give themselves a mark out of 10 and when aiming to pull someone, they only try those who they view as having achieved the same mark - or one above or below it!!

so say i view myself as a 5 - middle ranged - not too great but not too bad either. i'll look at all the single men in the room and i'll find myself a five - i might happen to see a ten out there but i'll look at how gorgous he is only - i'd never chance trying to chat him up coz that's just aiming too high for a five!!

that's exactly how i see people doing it - you can be in awe over celebs but in real life, you never batt to above your own level!!
