    Hi,

I am in the point and shoot brigade so a little out of my depth on this forum but some advice would be really appreciated. I have been trying to take some photos of leather armchairs I want to flog and keep getting weird spots on the pics. I don't see these spots on other pics taken, for example pointing it at the wall in the same room. I tried both last night (spots2.jpg and spot3.jpg) and this morning (spots4.jpg) in case it was the flash. There are no obvious marks on the lens and as I say I don't see the spots in other pics. Is this a light reflections problem? Is there anything I go do to avoid it? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    C

Hello, i would say that your lens are dirty... try to clean them with the proper cleaning kits, if its not the lens, i saw as well some cameras lettings dust going into the sensor even being a compact camera.

Its only 2 weeks old :( A panasonic FS-3. The thing is that other pics taken today don't show the spots, for example nospots1.jpg attached...

Alright, check what you did when you took the shoots, maybe in the 1st ones you used zoom and in the 2nd one you didn't try to take a pictures to a blue paper with and without zoom to see if it shows up...

OK, mortification time here - a bit more googling and I think I have the answer - its dust in the air! The light/flash is bouncing off the dust and casuing the spots. The chairs are dust magnets and I gave them a good dusting down before I took the photos. So its out with the hoover I think :D

    Cheers,
    C

Yeah, when I finally figured out what to search for on google, I came across loads of examples and indeed some of them are on paranormal sites :) Thankfully I came across the dust explanation before I saw the Orb sites :D

dare you to send your leather armchairs to a paranormal site - could be a real marketing ploy :D
