    Hi all

New here but hopefully someone can advise.

I'm looking at a new career and am thinking of getting a job in a gaming company e.g. Paddy Power etc. Would have to start at bottom as customer service or similar and just wanted to know had anyone any experience working for them or similar.

Is it eoyable, what salary could I expect, what are the benefits on top of salary??

    Any input appreciated.

Do you have any IT skills?

I've heard Pocket Kings in Cherrywood offer ridiculous salaries.

I know FullTilt are always looking for staff. I think they are around Cherrywood as well. You could probably get in as a junior tester on 20k if you play poker and have basic IT skills.

    thanks all

what Im also interested in is the stuff you cannot ask i.e. benefits on top of salary, what are the shift allowances, that sort of thing....

Well continuing on from my comment above, I've heard of people in Pocket King earning a few hundred thousand per year. These would be for fairly normal management jobs.

You may as well give them a shout and see do they have any non-tech jobs going...

hi guys. pocket kings and tiltware are the same company.
I know a guy in IT there and as long as you have the relivant expirience, then yes, for top devs and DB admins they offer 100K+. for most people with 2-5 years expirience it is between 45-60k which is still pretty darn good.
note though, if you go there, expect to work, HARD. 12 hour days are a lot more common than the standard 8 hour day, extreemly tight deadlines are also the norm.

great if all you want is cash, but if you feel that would drive you insane after a year or two, id look around a bit more.

I've heard the same about the hours, but benefits are great. Supposedly (this could just be their own hype), they are very particular on who they hire - the average software developer there could be a senior / principle in another company.

I've heard they pay "average" software testers about 80k.

Even with the high wages, from what I've heard about the place, I would not work there.

thanks everyone, anyone know about customer service roles there???

what sorta basics? do you have to work shifts?

I work at Pocket Kings and I can assure you that Im pretty sure everyone does not earn the millions quoted here! Things are indeed good, but not that good :) If they paid everyone 80k+ we would not be in business for long :)

What I can tell you there is very much an environment of 'work hard and play hard'. Its not somewhere you will want to work if you like working 9-5 and not a second longer, taking long lunches and surfing boards all day!

But if you want to work hard, learn new stuff, and get challenged all the time and then have a laugh afterwards then it could be the place for you?

The careers website above gives all the juicy information. Check out the Benefits link. The list of jobs in the various departments are all listed there. Click on the job, and you will see the entire job spec, that is what we are looking for in someone for that role. You can also submit a CV right there and our HR people will take it from there.

I dunno who to believe now :) The guy I spoke to recently seemed to think his manager was on 250k, and he was pushing 100k.

Is it true it's a bit of a "chaotic" office?

thanks vaga - I'd be only going in on one of the customer service roles so just the €100K for me :)

but seriously, what sorta llot do those ones pay, ballpark figure? is there shift work? is that at time and a half or something?

I dont know anything about the Customer Service roles Im afriad. If you think your suited and would like to maybe work here, why not throw in a CV via that website. You can get your questions answered by someone who works there in the phone interview and who will know the answers for a fact.

I would be thinking [IMHO here!] that the gentleman you were talking to was either:

    a) not telling the truth and trying to look cool or
    b) that he works directly for the CEO :)

    a) not telling the truth and trying to look cool

OK, I'll assume that was the case :)

Do you guys not get a finder's fee there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,693 ✭✭✭tHE vAGGABOND

I would get a finders fee if you put in your submission that you were refered by <insert real name here> and we knew each other in real life. Since you wont be doing that we wont get a finders fee!

Its in our interest to get good employees across all parts of the company as it makes our our lives that touch easier if everyone else is doing their job correctly :)
