    Finding it hard to find anything about this easily, wondering if anyone has any ideas...

    Is it possible to request any data a former employer holds on you under the DPA? The website seems to suggest so but then has a whole section on what information employers can retain.

    At a base level, you're entitled to request to see all information which a company holds on you (employer or otherwise) and you're entitled to have incorrect data corrected or deleted.

    Companies are permitted to hold information on you, provided that you have initially given them that permission to obtain the information, and they have a need to hold onto that information.

    To take a former employer as an example - they would be entitled to hold onto your name and the details of how much they paid you during your employment (because they need that kind of information), but they wouldn't be entitled to hold onto your bank details or your car registration (because they don't need that info once you've left).

    You *don't* (contrary to popular belief) have a right to request that company delete all the data that they hold on you, unless they have no reason to hold onto that data.
