Any body got any ideas as to why my immersion aint working ?

It turns on but does not heat the water ! I was messing around with a number of valves on the thing last night but still nothing. It definitely worked about 2 weeks ago.

Any suggestions as to what to check?

I am not an electrician, but:

    Fuse.

    Trip switches.

Timer, if you have one. Try to work it without it.

(Don't know what you mean about valves - any chance you've drained the damn thing and so it won't come on?)

Advanced level: cut the power and then - connections to the heating element - you should be able to take off a cap and see these/check they're seated and ok.

Very advanced level: replace the heating element, by buying a new element and an immersion wrench.

    tada!

    Hey thanks for the reply.

    - Ive checked trip switch
    - their is no timer
    - Their are 2 levers that I moved - one appeared to make water run somewhere, the other didnt seem to do anything ! These are on the pipes that run into the immersion !
    - Checked the gas heating system and its OK - I know immersion and GCH are connected someway !

As you say unless something has come loose !

The water does not seem to be heating with the Gas Central Heating (GCH) or the emersion.

When GCH is on the radiators are fine. Its only the water does not heat !!!

I dont know whats going on here !

The 2 pics are of the hotpress, I dont know what all the taps are for, and dont know if one of these could be causing the problem (maybe one got turned by mistake !!??)

    Any ideas?

All those red handled valves should be turned anti-clockwise.
Not my side of things, but the white one seems to be a themostat - it should be at the highest number.

The problem could be the thermostat, open up the black box on top of the immersion and you'll see two cables running into the thermostat, turn the little dial up to the max then check the power going into the two sides of it,if your only getting power on one side then its knackered, these are'nt too expensive to buy and easy to fit (with the power off of course)
