A friend of mine reminded me of a joke today that I heard in Kōbe a long time ago that caused me to laugh for approximately half an hour:

    A: 「このハングライダ(hang glider)はどのぐらい飛ぶの?」
    B: 「一時半ぐらいだ!」

I'll try to dig up a few more; please post some if you have any!

Basho was the most famous poet of the Edo era. His travels throughout Japan greatly inspired him. In fact, he began writing poetry on one long journey from Tokyo to Kyoto when a farmer gave him a lift in his wagon. This experienced inspired "ichi haiku".

(Geddit? Geddit?? I admit it took me a minute...)
