How to identify and find dolls from the 1960s

I would like to find replicas of dolls that I had in the 1950/s 1960s in Ireland. I dont know any brand names but I have a vivid recollection of size and appearance and hair and some original clothes. I have tried ebay and various websites about retro dolls but no joy on the ones I am looking for. The main problems is that there are too many results on searches and I dont have enough specific information. I have two requests for help:

    1. Anyone help me narrow down the list of manufacturers of dolls on sale in Ireland /UK in 1950s/1960s and eliminate those available only in the USA etc
I think that all the dolls I had were bought in Ireland - probably in Dublin or Roscommon - except one which I think was bought in Italy.

    2. I would really like to find a replica of a large doll which I think was bought in Italy in the late 1960s. She was stunningly beautiful with long jet black shining hair and she had a walking / head turning mechanism. She was probably around 18 -24 inches tall but I cant be sure except that she was much much bigger than all the other dolls I had. I called her Sophie but I dont know if that name came from the manufacturers. I think it may have. She wore a very gorgeous deep blue satin type dress with hard lacy material all around the skirt and she had white socks and shoes.

Sadly my Sophie had an accident quite early on. Her lovely turning head was held in place by an ugly grey plastic bar that attached to the legs inside the body. I know this because the bar broke and her head rolled off and no amount of glue applied by a child could fix it. Many tears ensued..I played with Sophie for a long time even though her head was not attached to her body.......and that was nearly 40 years ago .....Anyone out there able to help me find her with her head intact...????? Or have any help on narrowing the search for the other dolls which were more ordinary.
