if shes into ancient ruins I would recommend Clonmacnoise and fore
2.5mi/4km east of Castlepollard, to the north of Mullingar, between two hills, lies Fore, a very ancient settlement where St Fechin founded a monastery in the seventh century. The monastic church (c. 900: National Monument) has been preserved, and in the churchyard are a high cross and a 15th C. tower house known as the Anchorite's Cell, with a 1 9th C. mausoleum built on to it. The original monastery was superseded in the 13th C. by a Benedictine priory; its fortress-like ruins (National Monument) are 0.25mi/400m away. They consist of a church, two tower houses, part of a cloister, domestic buildings and a dovecot. Not far distant, in the fields, are two gates (National Monuments), relics of the old town walls.

never done all the fore tour the scenery is quite nice some parts of it reminds me of driving arounds norway check this out as well http://www.discoverireland.ie/eastcoast/where-to-go/driving-routes/The_Fore_Trail.aspx

County Clare for the win. Must Visit the Burren.

Also Kerry. Those mountains are wild.

+1 on Kerry, especially doing the Ring Of Kerry. Also Connor Pass outside Dingle is not to be missed, stunning scenery.
If you get Donegal in good weather there's probably no better place in Ireland to be, fantastic coast drives with the Atlantic roaring to shore.
Also don't forget Newgrange for a bit of history, its older than the Pyrmiads but gets only a quarter of the recognition. Slane Castle is also good to see if you are in that area and its open, check in advance as its not always open.
