I am looking for help in choosing a new camera bag.

    I need something large.
I have 2 cameras with power drives and 6 lenses 2 flash guns and filters and loads of other stuff.

I would also like somewhere to hand my tripod, but its not a deal breaker but would be nice..

    Any Ideas ?

I think I would like a shoulder bag, but I want to get access to my kit quick so that kind of puts me off the back pack idea.. but again I am fully open to ideas..

how many of your gear will use at any given time?
If you will mostly go with one body and 3 or 4 lenses max i'd recomend you can get a lowepro toploader 75aw and a (or two) matching lens case

I have it with an LC4 and it can carry one camera with or without grip, a 70-200 2.8 attached or in the LC and one other lens, plus a small-to-medium (like a 12-24mm f4) sized lens in the outside pouch or a flash gun
even a nifty fifty will fit in the bottom pocket

it has a shoulder strap, a harness to use it as a front or back pack and you can also get a very confy belt to carry it on your hip

Check out the larger Crumpler shoulder bag range.

    I can put a 1D Mk III with 70-200 2.8 IS, 5D w/Grip and 24-70 2.8L, 50mm, 15mm, Lensbaby, a 580ex w/Omnibounce, 40in reflector folded up, 17in widescreen laptop, charger, and plenty of memory cards, a charger, batteries etc.

It dosn't do your back any favours though.

I like to carry both cameras, d200 and d40x with drives, in addition a I would carry at a minimum 4 lenses and 2 sb600 and filters, cable release batteries, memory cards and all the usual other crap ! ;) Digital photo bank and when away I bring a laptop. all of this fits in the bag I posted above, But for the shoulder bag I am happy to leave the laptop behind. its always the way, you leave something behind and then you need it, I really dont mind the weight I just need something big enough and shoulder mounted..

I also drag around a tripod and monopod ! :) go figure :)

Wow... just make sure you keep an eye on all that equipment all the time.

Although my kit is starting to increase (modestly) too ;)

I have a brand spanking new (unused, still in packaging) Lowepro Vertex 300 AW for sale which I'll let go for a very reasonable sum compared to retail prices in Ireland.

This is one serious bag and it takes a lot of kit, including a full sized laptop.

PM me if you are interested. I bought this in error and want to recoup some funds so I can replace it with something closer to my requirements.

Stan and myself have exchanged PMs but as stated I am after a shoulder bag, so tried to set him up with a mate for his bag..

    anyway...........

I just bought this little/BIG gem... So am very happy...

    http://www.tamrac.com/welcome.htm

second bag top row, the 614 super pro 14..
    gets good reviews...

Now all I need to do is get rid of my other one LOL ;)

BIG thank you to all for your time and help !!

I also considered the lowepro commercial aw.. sweet bag but the Tamrac is bigger...

you will need a sherpa to carry it when full
if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
mind you that if you carry that one when full for long your back will suffer either now or later

Jeez, that bag alone weighs in at over 3kg even when empty!! Fill it full of camera gear and you'll fall over sideways :)

    nothing personal

only because I could carry much more when I was in my teens and early 20's
and I've always believed nothing will happen to me
but now I'm scrapping the big 4 and I've started to look at my back with more detail, specially when picking how to carry heavy stuff

And there was I thinking you were going to ask me out ;)

I am no spring chicken, but I always thought its the manner in which you carry things that counts...

I use a number of bags, so if I was travelling I would use my first bag, the one on wheels.. link supplied in one of my earlier posts.. and if I was heading up a mountain I would use a different kit and bag..

And for the record to others reading I am not batting for the other side LOL
