If you want to go bald go and get it waxed. Otherwise trim it with a male grooming kit.

just to note, i was talking to a beautician about this before and she advised me that you are better off waxing that area. the reason is because apparently shaving around there with an electric razor can cause in-growing hairs, and it can be dangerous for a bloke to get in-growing hairs in that area. it put me right off doing it. now obviously if your only trimming the hairs its grand but if you are shaving it completely be careful. use a good razor, bur preferably wax.

regarding the itching, just put some moisturiser on it afterwards. it only itches for couple of days anyway so i wouldnt worry.

I have to ask, are you a male? If so, I'd be curious as to why your other friends would tell you that shaving is the thing to do.

Ages back I had to wear a heart monitor. As a result they would have to shave patches of my chest (I've still got 1 or 2 where hair wont grow). It was the most uncomfortable, itchiest experience I have ever had and I have no idea how girls can cope!

    Fully agree with previous posters:

Never shave areas of skin with folds, or areas that expand and contract, e.g. your scrotum/base of penis. You risk ingrown hairs, and you really don't want to be visiting a clinic to get them sorted out.

The summer especially is when you shouldn't shave because it's hotter and, ahem, more moist in the trouser department.

Wax or trim! A beard trimmer works wonders and doesn't leave your meat and two veg looking like a plucked chicken...

Get some teatree oil soap or shampoo and use it on the area.

Moisturise, and then just bear the itchyness. If your going to do it again, wax.

Keep on topic folks or bannings will be handed out.

I'm still curious, why exactly is it essential in summer to shave your pubic region?

    One word: Swimwear

But surely a trim will suffice and leave you without that irritating itching and in-grown hairs?

Or else just don't wear speedos..

Yea, most people will have a trim, girls will do a bikini line wax, but in the summer months the hormones and raging and who knows, you might strike it lucky, so you have to look your best.

And no hair makes it look bigger..or something

I cant imagine why men do this; it's so weird and unnatural looking.

OP, there's nothing for it but to suffer the itch (and hope you dont get ingrown hairs!)

I can understand it with regards to cyclists and swimmers, but that is for their sport. And maybe male porn stars.

But otherwise, I can't either. It can lead to being very itchy and awkward situations therein.

I shaved my armpits when 15 once just to see what happened (I was on holiday and horrendously bored)

    HORRIBLE

Itched terribly, not even itched. just hurt like a mofo.

The itch could just the hair growing back?
