Okay, this might die a sad and lonely death....if so, just ignore

EDITED TO CHANGE TO 'PHOTO OF THE FORTNIGHT'

I can't even remember which one, but another photography site I look at occasionally runs a photo of the week thread with a specific theme each week - using a theme makes it a little different from your standard 'post your best photos here' thread. Anyone here interested in doing something similar?

The rules:

You can only enter one photo each fortnight.

It's not a C&C thread, so to avoid cluttering it: no comments from anyone on the photos.

The photographer can put in a line or two about their photo if they wish.

A Mod will decide the winner of the first contest. After that the winner starts the next thread, eg 'Photo of the Fortnight - May 26 (ending 23.59 June 9)', quoting these rules at the start of the thread and choosing a new theme. After a fortnight they will choose the winner, and off we go again.

After picking the winner the 'judge' will complete the thread by explaining why they chose the photo they did, what impressed them about it.

What do you think?

If anyone is interested could one of the Mods post here and offer themselves as a judge?

Hmm. It's a bit of fun, which is cool, but I'm not sure about it being just one judge. But then if you make it open judging (voting), it's just half of the monthly competition... we need a twist, to make it worthwhile.

Yeah I was think that myself, the one judge thing I don't like, it would have to be more than one.

Would a poll would be the best way to decide it?

A poll seems open to bias. What about a different mod choosing a winner each time on a rotating basis?

Or you could just delegate to me - the winning entry will be the one with the most saturation.

A poll will turn into a back slapping fest, it's like text voting on reality TV; it becomes a popularity gig.

I prefer the mods / well known photographer approach (if ye can get one to take the time out to do this)

Alternatively, why not have a 3 judge panel, 1 mod / 2 members and rotate it every fortnight?

Is the monthly competition still running? It seemed to get killed off shortly after I joined Boards, which was unseemly timing on my part! It was also the initial reason I signed up

Well if it's died a death, then it's time to unsticky/delete it and let it slide. No point in having the two running concurrently.
