I have an ASUS laptop in for a tidy up and upgrade at the moment and its saying HDD locked enter password. The owner doesn't know of any password or nothing so is a bit worried about this.

I can't get into the Bios or anything.
Is there a way around this??

Sounds dodgy tbh, the manufacturer can unlock it if you provide proof of purchase or even name some of the the files on the drive.

Otherwise its fairly impossible to break the password may as well throw out the HD and put in a new one.

Still tho dodgy, you cant just turn on HD password in BIos by accident.

He has had this a good while now(he is a mate of mine), I have done fresh install on it a few times and never a bother with them. I turned on the laptop a while ago and there was nothing on screen it was just blank. Turned it off and back on and am now greeted with this message. If I put a new HDD in what will happen??

He is getting new Ram and a new HDD installed so I don't want to put the new HDD in incase it locks up.
