Iv been looking through kea photo and came across a canon 40d for a real good price. If I buy it from kea will I get caught for taxs as it comes into Ireland and what would be the tax on it??

I find that the shipping from HK always seems a little high. Try some of the German online stores too, VAT is already included and not charged when entering Ireland.

From what I can see Kea is more expensive than local (ish)

Kea (incl post and ins) GBP 580
    Calumet (Belfast ) GBP 600

And the Calument qualifies for GBP 100 Cashback, I doubt the Kea does. No problems with duty. vat, returns or warrenty) plus Kea could possibly add 21% for VAT.

    No brainer I think.

    Calumet are in Belfast!!

    Who knew (apart from Covey)?

I just had a look at their UK prices (I assume they apply in the Belfast shop as well) and they are VERY competitive vis a vis the HK shops.

For example: 5D body in Belfast: £1150 (after cashback) - €1450. Body from Kea: £1110. Conns Cameras, Dublin: €2000.

If I was buying another 5D I'd go North.
