Storing stuff in the shed

Im leaving the country for a while pretty soon and I'll be moving all my gear back to my parents place. There's room in the attic for everything, but there's no way my guitar cabs will fit. The only other space for them is in the shed. Anyone think that they could be at risk from excessive cold/moisture/creepy crawlies/anything?

If they're made from mdf (like some marshall cabs these days) moisture can turn that junk into pulp basically. It will definitely have a major effect on the structure and tone of the cab.

If they're good cabs (not particle board), I wouldn't worry overly. You may get some rusting on the speakers or something like that, but a good cab can take decades of abuse so if thats the only place you can put them, so be it.

I wouldn't put them in a shed, possibility of water damage, rust, mold or finding mice/rats inside.

Why not cover your cab in plastic sheeting or something like that?

Yeah, definitely not something I'd do, unless you can completely seal them in plastic, and make sure it's airtight and safe from moisture/mold, and any other things that can get in and destroy your cabs.

To be honest, you may just want to sell them, and then buy a new one when you get back home from your travels.

+1 unless they're some special ordered stuff, sell it and buy the same again (or better) when you get home. Plus you'll have more money for your trip. :)

hmm, goess i'll have to find some other option because i definitely don't want to sell them, i got them both for really cheap and while they're nothing special (both marshalls), they do the job quite nicely.

Maybe give them to a friend (that you trust) for a lend while you're away?

 < WTF is that!

Don't wrap it in plastic. The water would condensate inside and cause a lot of problems.
To rent or to lend those really seems to be the best idea. Some youngsters in your family who could possibly like to have them and be lazy to play them? :-)

thanks for the advice. all my trustworthy friends already have their own gear, but another family member has been kind enough to donate some space in their house, so i'm sorted.
