2 x years since I heard one. There was one at the back of my house but new house construction and ditches ripped out means he's moved on :(

Yes, I heard one as clear as a bell on Friday morning 2nd May at around 8 am. It was coming from a wooded area across a river in front a hotel in Gweedore, Co. Donegal.

One of the nicest calls I've heard in years. I listened to him for about 20 minutes. Great to hear it again after many years.:)

I heard one this time two weeks ago beside Lough Fea in Tyrone. Lovely sound of spring. I seen one 2 years ago up close on my shoot. I could hear it cuckooing its way up the valley to see it fly up the line of the hedge not 10 feet away from me. It settled on top of the big tree by the release pen and cuckoo'd its head off for 10 mins before flying down the valley again. Magic!

    Mallards.

I was watching a thing on discovery the other night about the affect of the chernobly disaster on wildlife in the area etc. It was amazing to see how resiliant nature can be etc. All the local species are triving (apart from the fact they are irrated) now that they have the exclusion zone to themselves with no human intervention.
Anyway the point is that in every video clip of a bear/wolf etc you could clearly hear the cuckoo!!

Nature is more resialant aht we give it credit for, perhaps.

I heard one in Riverstown Co. Sligo on the last week in April and one about a week and a half ago in Wicklow.
