Decoding BBC HD on a HTPC

    Hi folks,

Just put in an order for a HTPC kit from a company that advertises on the AVForums, but I'm wondering if it will be powerful enough to decode BBC HD?

    The spec contains the following:

    CPU: BE-2400 (2 x 2.3GHz)
    Memory: 4GB DDR2 800 (PC6400)
    Storage: 1000GB
Optical Drive: BluRay RW / HDDVD / DVDRW

It doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, graphics are provided via a HDMI port on the motherboard and sound comes from there too.

I will be installing a DVB-S card which will be OK for BBC HD but will probably need to install a DVB-S2 card soon enough.

should be fine, my 1.6ghz core duo laptop 1gb ram worked perfect for hd playback

also find that a dvb-s card is fine for watching & recording bbc-hd

might be worth getting better graphics card sometime though

yes would be worth getting a cheap graphics card that does hardware acceleration (unless that motherboard does it already) as BBC HD will use a lot of the CPU up if its depending soley on the CPU to decode it.
