Removing mildew from garden patio set??

    Hi guys,

As you are aware we are having a lot of sunshine the last week or two and I have to say it really does the soul good.

My problem is with a bog standard white garden patio table. It has been neglected over the past year or more and left outside under a few trees and exposed to the elements. Now there is a sort of mildew, green-grey in colour, covering the top of the table (the chairs are not so badly effected). I tried scrubbing the table with some household cleaning agents but I'm not really getting anywhere. The table is about three foot (36 inches) in diameter. I'm thinking maybe if I had a way of bathing the top of the table in bleach but the legs are permanently attached so that seems a bit tricky.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what would be the best way of getting this table back looking the way it should, clean and white?

I don't like waste and I'm refusing to go out and buy a new garden patio set, thank you. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated, thanks.

I had this problem with a white pvc fence at the front of my house. My solution was a bucket, sponge, cif / jif, and a power jet washer.... sorted.

Thanks bauderline but I've got it sorted now.

    This is what I did..
I poured bleach over the complete surface area of the table, left it for 10 mins and with a bit of brushing it is now like new!
I believe there are many people out there who don't realise what Bleach can do.
My mother in-law has been pouring Domestos into her toilets for years thinking that it will keep them clean and white. Of course it may keep them clean but not necessarily white. Bleach is a winner.
