Just walked by habitat on suffolk street and they've got a sign up that says they're closed until further notice.

    Checked their website:
    http://www.habitat.ie/

Says they're closing the Ireland franchise due to a downturn in the market.

I had a furniture order with them and was going to check up on it, I've emailed them to see what they have to say.

Wonder if they'll have a sale somewhere with all the stuff they've got in the shop.

Thats bad news. I had a Homewares shop, and had to close too, its hard. :(

A sign of things to come it seems.

Good luck with your order OP, at least you have some comeback with the UK stores.

I also have an order with them, 7500euro worth. I'm kinda worried.

Sorry to hear that sueme. :(

Habitat were very over priced imo.

Tbh Zulu, its not just Habitat. I bought mainly from UK suppliers and my retail price was alot cheaper than the usual High Street Stores.

Theres a thread over in Fashion and Appearance about the discrepancies in Euro/Sterling pricing. Its a load of codswallop. You don't pay more to have goods shipped here, in fact most are carriage paid.

Still, a bit fat FAIL for me though :(

As they say, you live and learn! (Never to go into business again!)

Nope a learning experience - did you always get 100% in every exam you did?

Chin up sueme - not one self made billionaire made there money from their first attempt. These people do it, fail, do it again, fail, do it again... ...and make millions, and millions and have helicopters, and swimming pools, and private jets.
Don't let one stumble take you out of the race. :)

Its covered in todays Indo. I see Joe Duffy is on the case ;) Seriously though I hope it works out for those who have bought furniture and awaiting delivery. Didn't know they were only a franchise. Hopefully UK Habitat will do something as damaging for their brand.

Probably due to IKEA opening up north. Wait until they open down here.

It doesn't look good at all. Good luck to all who are waiting for information.
