Just down getting notes in the reading rooms and noticed that there was more people there than in the library.I always found the reading rooms to be too noisy, stuffy, too much movement. Why do people study there?

No idea. Personally, I stay well clear of the place before exams. I'd find it hard to concentrate in an over crowded place like that anyway.

it's is quite possibly the biggest mystery of NUIG.

Ditto, always wondered the same thing. Maybe its because its open earlier than the library?

Have you been watching Graham Norton?? :p

Ya the reading room seems to be the place to be as regards scouting for men/women. I don't know why though. It's a freaking reading room. You go there, you study, you go home.

You really get straight a's?I vaguely remember you saying something about repeating a while back in the forum?

I was talking about people in there in general, it is law and medicine.
That repeating was due to not turing up to college for a year, girls eh.

Depends on the course, can get in the 90s in some from one day of study.
    Others are much harder though.

spent a bit of time studying there this year. why? because it's kind of a little community onto itself, where you CAN bring in your coffee, have a wee chat, leave your seat for an extended break, have a munch on a scone etc without a librarian treating you like a 5 year old and giving out to you. Also, it's open earlier and closes later. and if you've been lucky enough (like me) to get a locker beside it, it pretty much makes sense to study there.

oh and it's predominantly medicine, not law. I'm doing law and usually there were only 5-15 other people in the reading rooms doing law.

oh and in the reading rooms, there is a completely different vibe in the first room to the second room. Also, people have a tendency to keep to the same seats, thereby claiming the seats for themselves and noone else... be warned!

There are more than 5-15, maybe you don't know them, look at peoples books though. It was half and half medicine and law at my table of about 20. There are a lot more medicine though. A lot of us keep the same seats. Second room guy myself.

Stay away from my seat! Somebody actually apologised to somebody in my class for taking their seat hehe.

I agree with the Reading rooms being a little community, but I loved it! (bar the study of course) open from 7am until 11pm so I suppose the really dedicated bagsied the place, I was there nearly every morning from late March onwards in the same seat in the front room, god help anyone who took my seat!! :D
Its nice to have a place where you can bring in a coffee and plug in your laptop without Liam screaming at you, I find that the library is full of wannabes strutting up and down, fair enough its the case in the reading room but not to the same extent as everyone in there is predominantly final year (law, medicine and engineering mainly from what i can gather). I did get dressed up and had the warpaint on but thats from personal preference not desperation I promise!!
Also in the reading room, everybody has a 'reading room person' aka one hottie youd see everyday that would distract you for a tad. The only scary ( and slightly worrying) thing about it was meeting people out in town after the exams and them drunkenly coming up going 'I KNOW YOU!! I KNOW YOU FROM THE READING ROOM!!' Got a few numbers out of it so its all good :P

that's sounds so cool. i wanna be just like that when i grow up.

still, us over in the IT building had a good dynamic i.e. completely ignore the existence of others. good times were had by all.

Yeah, probably the only thing I'm gonna miss about college. All the time spent wondering, is there really a world outside this building. Where women exist and are not a myth

Its an ignorant but happy existance
