I have a Caberg Moschino 06 version, but have a skin rash now possible allergy to the glues / rubber they are using.

    Anyone know of any others?

That's an open face helmet, isn't it?

The two main flip ups in Irish use are Caberg justissimo and Nolan N102 - both well recommended and worth trying, the better one will just depend on what suits the shape of your head best.

Schuberth Concept, or Schuberth C2 (replacement for concept).
You can get the concept pretty cheap online these days. Just do a sizing in a shop first.

I'm on my second Concept (in 7 years). They're very reliable.

I have a Caberg Justissimo - nice helmet.

I'm getting a new one soon. Anyone have experience of the Shoei Multitec? It looks the part but it's expensive (400-500 euro). Wouldn't mind some feedback before I part with the cash.

Dainese do full face helmets with built in bluetooth. Works very well but they are expensive. You can check them out in Bikeworld

Flip ups are great for town/city riding, but there is some serious noise from them for anything above 50/60 mph -- from the Caberg and Nolan definitely. I hear the Shoei is much improved.

Picked up one of those Dainese ones with bluetooth -- very happy with it, the built in pin-lock system is also amazing to stop a steamy visor.

Roof boxer, best of both worlds, looks a bit "fighter pilot" when closed.

ask, and you shall receive: just add bluetooth to the Autocom system. But I agree a tidier unit would be nice...........

Btw pataman, who sells Roof ones, here ? - I like the look of them.

Ive a Nolan N102. Have to say its an excellent helmet. Very comfortable, not bits have broken off, and its certainly a lot quieter than my previous helmet (Arai Rx7).
Also the Nolan Ncom stuff is available for them, which looks lovely but is a bit on the expensive side.

As for Roof lids.. I wanted one cos they look cool, but as soon as I saw the locking mechanism, there is no way would I wear one. But thats up to yourself.

My next flip up will be the new Nolan N103 or the Schubert, which ever is most comfortable.

Then N102 can be had pretty cheap, if you dont mind the funky designs

Hein Gericke do Nolan(for trying on purposes) , and Crossans in newry do Roof

Cardo scala units work okay and are much cheaper than autocom systems. Can be picked up on eBay - work well with flipups in particular.

I wish they did. There's a reason the Autocom is as expensive as it is - rugged (mine gets a lot of abuse), vox-operated and speed sensitive adjustability on the mic, crystal clear at speed too. Repairable ad nauseam....... Gives the 'oul iPod a whole new lease of life, too :D

My Scala does speed sensitive volume adjustment, and is crystal clear.
But as you pointed out, it's not very rugged. Have to remove the Bluetooth module in heavy rain. :(

It's a tight fit, but fits on my Schuberth perfectly.

Nolan are bringing out an N103 this year, which has an internal sunvisor. The previous model N102 has an external removeable sunvisor, so the mod is a welcome change. Bluetooth works well on this lid, Ive fit it, and tried it out.

My scala has worked fine and is very clear, even at speed. Had this conversation with Krusty before, his gives him trouble in the rain but I've left mine on through fairly heavy rain without any problems. Though we use them on different helmets so it could relate to the shape of helmets and how much contact area there is to create a seal, or something like that.

It's not that mine gives me trouble in the rain, it's that they're reported to fail completely (and terminally!) in heavy rain, so I don't risk it on a 100 euro piece of electronics!

:D Never knew that! Honest, mine was grand. I went and broke the mic boom though so don't use it now (my fault that, carelessness).

Looking at how it slots into its socket on the helmet, I wondered maybe if the end of the helmet was curved in a particular place, it might allow water to slide down onto the contacts perhaps... so maybe the issue is with certain helmets only... though, you're right, it would be an expensive experiment to prove!

The Schuberth C2 is a great lid. I havent got one but having tried it recently it's down as my next buy. The Concept is also a nice buy.

Failing that any of the BMW series which are all manufactured by Schuberth anyway.

If you are willing to buy online from the UK there is a Schuberth Concept on sale at

    http://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/product.asp?ProductID=1315

    or a Nolan

    http://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/product.asp?ProductID=358&ProductName=Nolan%20N102%20Classic%20N-Com

You will have to contact them to negotiate shipping costs but with the rate of the Euro against the pound at the moment you are bound to still get a good deal.

How about a Roof Boxer, it looks light a knights helmet when fully open and a jet fighter when closed...

I had roof boxer - the side popper things both broke off after a couple of months and there was no vents. A piece of crap imo.

We're heading way off topic, but... I think the problem is water ingress around the charging connections, so if you must use it in heavy rain, maybe consider taping over the charging connection..

The Schuberth C2 seems to be around 320 euro delivered from here. That's a great price. Need to check fittings first.. Hmm.. I'm tempted.
