got a call from a customer, he broke the screen in his new dell laptop by picking the laptop up between his fingers and his thumb

he said dell told him where to go seen as its 100% accidental damage

whats the story with claiming this on the house insurance, do you get the full value of the laptop new, and will the price of his insurance go up

Ring the insurance company and ask them. Each policy is different, so thats the only way to get a definitive answer

He was too honest, should have just said screen wasn't working when talking to Dell Support, we have seen several lucky people have their broken (physically) screens replaced by Dell even though was accidental. House insurance will cover it to a degree, he'll get a reduced price of the laptop though , I doubt he'd get any where near full asking price.

Can he pick up a replacement screen from Ebay etc? It's not too difficult to replace an LCD.

Yep....but it might be cheaper in the long run, than claiming on his house insurance? Cost for a new screen shouldn't be too bad....what model of laptop is it?:)
