Arrived from HK yesterday, cost 310e. As I said it's pretty effin' good and I'm glad I picked it over the canon 10-22mm - it was really just too expensive for me.

Now I just have to wait for some nice weather to give it a good run for it's money. It's been fairly cloudy down here recently:mad:

Here's a pic of my cat sniffing a wierd shiny black thing in it's face...

I don't see how people think these wide lenses are good for landscape shots though. I took a photo of the mountains by my house and they ended up looking tiny...

By the way, I want a medal.

Although he has raised the prices of his 10-20mm lenses in the past week or so for some reason....????

Packaging was a bit dodge though - recieved it in a kind of brown paper bag type envelope!!! Twas well wrapped up inside tho.

This is quite interesting as I am also looking at Canon 10-22. The lens is as a good as Canon but cheaper! I could see it on Kea Photo for 230 pound plus shipping and insurance. That's 110 pound cheaper than the Canon version! Interesting.

I bought a mag recently that did a round up of 8 wide angle lenses and they gave the sigma the top mark - pipped the canon and nikon versions on price

Theres lovely detail in the pic of the cat and grass... must order one very soon!

Congrats on the new lens! Cool looking shot, what camera are you using it on Ninja?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 510 ✭✭✭Ninja_scrotum

    Used my 400d.

Before I bought the lens I was afraid that the 1.6 crop factor on the camera would get rid of the really WIDE feeling at 10mm, but as you can see it's all there. You even have to be careful not to let your feet poke into the shot sometimes:pac:

    Haha nice!

I've been pondering getting a wide lense for a while and the 1.6crop has put me off quite a bit. Glad to hear it doesn't make too much from the lense.

Happy snapping, I'd love to see some more :)

Really? How come you went for Canon?
Thinking of getting the Sigma myself as after reading reviews I didn't think there was that much to justify the extra €150

I have the Sigma myself (on a Nikon) and I love it. Got it from a UK ebay shop.

    Yeah i got from ebay.

Yeah i decided to go for Canon 10-22mm by the tests should be or at least has L quality. Then for 100€ that was the real difference i prefer to got for the Brand, i like a lot Canon lens, and i read as well a lot of problems with Sigma not having the same quality in the same lens, and a lot of people starting to change them because the ones they got had problems.

I have 2 Canons and I'm very happy with the quality and money wasn't really the issue, so i prefer to go to the Canon :)

From what i saw on ebay all Sigma lens are 10 or 20% more expensive, i saw one guy saying that everybody has to do that, so i believe thats why now is more expensive :)

Wide angle are great for landscape mate :)
