Any idea of cost for a '97 2.0 Irish car? Anything go wonky on these, generally??

Anyone know of a Honda specialist (or a safe pair of hands) in Cork city?

Little off topic but i had the older model a 95 of the prelude.
It was a wonderful car and really reliable and fun, the only thing i can fault on hondas is the paint which isn't the best.
I'm now driving a boring golf so enjoy that prelude if you buy!!!

How many miles on the car?

It should be done at around 60k so may already have been replaced.

Most good mechanics will mark the milage on the belt cover if it was done (or else record it in the service book but this would be unlikely for a '97).

I'd expect to pay €300ish including a major service.

It's one of the few things that can totally knacker an engine it it breaks so don't put it on the long finger.

    :)

It was done @40k and there's 74k now with FSH. €300 incl service- are you sure? That sounds very cheap, but maybe I'm used to 4 figure services on Audis.

I paid €400ish for the same on my '97 FTO including 6 new platinum plugs - changing them involves removing the whole intake manifold, not a quick job. That's where I got the figure.

In saying that, it was a 'back street' guy but he came highly recommended from other FTO owners and did a great job.

If you go to a main dealer, then expect to double the price and possibly get half the service
