    Hi Everybody,

Did a rescan the other day and I'm receiving
    Rte 1 and 2
    TV3
    tg4
    HD TEST Channel
    Oireachtas tv

I'm using the Hauppauge HVR 4000 and powercinema 5.0

I thought that my tv card only supported dvb-s2 and not dvb-t hd.

Is the HD channel really broadcasting in HD?

No-on is using DVB-t2. DVB-S2 is NOT HD, it's a 30% more efficent version of DVB-s, that HD often uses.

HD needs MPEG4 AVC H.264, a separate issue to Cable, Terrestiral, DVB-s or DVB-s2 :)

The HVR 4000 can receive just about everything possible, DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-T and analogue and with the correct software and decoders it can decode both MPEG2 and MPEG4.

I assume the HD Test channel is just a High Bitrate MPEG 4 stream in DVB-T, so with the right software, you should be able to receive it.

The new channel will cover the Dáil and the Seanad, as well as committee meetings and debates. Ultimately, Ryan hopes to have meetings of local authorities and councils broadcast on the channel.

Under the terms of the Broadcasting Bill, the channel will also be able to show parliamentary proceedings from other countries, and ultimately, could have a feed from C-Span, the highly popular US television channel, dedicated to Capitol Hill in Washington DC.

    Highly popular C-Span :D

    Have you watched it?

There is an EU channel. But since we point our dishes at the Sky Ghetto, UK & Ireland about the only two countries that don't watch it.

The Dáil and the Seanad was supposed to get a channel each nearly 8 years ago and have both been available as Web TV for a long while.

Until we have a Nationwide DTT/Satellite system (DTT as presently planned would only be 80%) "launching" this new channel is pointless and not news.
