ps3 4 days old and the disc reciver packed in

    hi i was just wondering has anyone else have this problem , i bought the system in game in rathmines ,4 days old and it wouldnt take any discs so i rang game and i had a new system delivered in 40 mins by courier very impressed rang at 5;30 to make sure it was ok, but back to the thread is this a common problem i know i have a warrenty for a year is it a good idea to take out an extended one with sony, had the same trouble with a 360 last year a mth out of warrenty and i got the circle of death.just a bit concerned.

    My console is a year old. No issues. From what I can tell, the PS3's hardware failure rate seems quite low. Certainly not a patch on the 360.

    oh most definately i felt ripped off with the xbox 360 even before it went awol on me .i was just curious as the techy in game said he only hear of it happening once before.so im pretty happy ,you cant beat ps for the extended games collection this is the year were 360 heads will feel the difference and go mmmm how come this and that isnt released on 360, im old enough just, to remember the old beta v vhs wars i feel micro soft is a bit of a beta wet willie lol.

    The First PS3 I bought was broken, it wouldn't accept discs or eject discs exactly as your own problem.

    Brought it back and got a new one on the day.

    Nothing electrical has ever broken on me, ever. However, I'm having thoughts of an extended warranty purchase for the PS3. 700quid is a hell of a lot of money.

    yeah im thinking of going down that route aswell , its going to be the no 1 console for the next 6 years anyway theres no reason my ours cant last that long with extended warrentys and the like, oh just a tought im with alliance insurance and i had to ring them up to get it added to my house cover just a heads up lads.does any one know deatails on sonys extended warrenty ie how much and how to go about it.
