D300 (in "standard") and tokina 12-24mm at 12mm
    9 exposures (-4 to +4)
put together using DynamicPhoto (so many variables... I end up with a ton of versions)

Wow! I just bought one of these lenses a couple of weeks ago. I'm only new to this - and first time I've seen HDR - but is it a littlte oversharp? Otherwise it's fantastic.:)

The roof is fantastic, but maybe the windows are still a little bright?

Great picture all the same though.

yes, I also feel the windows are still too bright
the small version does have some extra sharpening, may be too much
did you have a look at the high res? do you still think it's over sharpened?

As the guys said, the roof is stunning but the brightness from the windows draws my attention to them.. nice pic tho

A great place to try out hdr till you drop. Overall I think the picture looks a bit too bright except for the roof. The whites seem to pop out a bit too much for me.

    :)

the windows and the alter a bit bright tbh, and the bottom left looks a little blury?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭quilmore

    that's my fault
I think it's blur because I forgot my release cord at home :(
I've tried to use the self timer, but it wasn't enough
that and that of my tripod not being sturdy enough probably

more than the windows being too bright and shapness (or lack of), is the HDR looking good? does it look natural-ish to your eyes?

    I'll take the pics again

I like the HDR - very natural looking... nice work on the verticals as well ..

As far as the bright windows are concerned, you should be able to lessen the highlights before converting the 32-bit file down to 8-bit?

I admire your lack of tone-mapping, although I still say that the windows look too blown out. Keep in mind that with HDR photography the ultimate intent is to match the human eye's greater tonal range.

That's not to say that including the windows perfectly will be easy; I've had some very hit or miss results when the sun is shining directly in.

The ceiling and top of image is brilliant, it's a pity the alter is so bright, it doesn't seem to contrast well with the stunning ceiling, I'd try to darken it.. :)
Personally I wouldn't mind the windows being a little bright.
