unistalled macafee downloaded avg so far so good but

    following recomendations from long time posters i uninstalled macafee and installed avg so far so good at the start of the install it said i needed a windows update patch now im running windows update so i feel his sould resolve the problem but in my update settings it has update set to 3;00 daily so im a bit in the dark as to why i needed pacth ,im a complete spanner when it comes to all this type of things so any advice is greatly recived.

    Automatic Updates general setting is 3am. Nothing to worry about there.
    Acutally im not sure what you are worried about at all really.

    If you want to see if you need updates, click start -> Programs -> at the top you will see windows update. It will manually check for updates.

    Ya, I had to install an update also when installing AVG on my Mams laptop, it an update thats not normally available. Its fine.

    Did you run the McAfee Removal Tool? Its a bugger to fully remove without it.

    Speaking of MacAfee, is the Firewall up to scratch? It came with my Dell Laptop, and I know the virus scanner itself is a bit ****, but does the Firewall do it's job?

    If it is, is it possible to use Avast! or AVG with it, and have Macafee virus scan disabled. ?

    Its no better than freeware equivelents really, and dells mc affees are always trial versions so its probably worthwhile removing the mc affee bloatware and install either avast or avira (http://www.free-av.com/)
