    Hi,
I got a full head of meche highlights at my local salon on Saturday and also a cut on my shoulder lengh hair. I wear clip-in extensions every day and because of this, my own hair cannot have blunt ends as they will never blend with the extensions. The last time I got my hair cut I found this out the hard way- she cut it so straight it was like a ruler- I ended up having to cut into it myself to make it look softer and more feathery. So this time when she was cutting it I explained all this to her. No matter how much I asked her not to cut it too blunt she still did! Says that's how she was trained.
Does anyone know a salon that specialise in cutting your own hair to blend with extensions?
Also, when getting a full head of meche foil highlights (I have been getting them about 2 years- I'm completely blonde)- is it normal for the hairdresser to only put the colour on the top half of each strand, and leave the rest out of the foil? Think it has affected my colour- the ends look a different colour.

One more thing- my hair is naturally black and while I have no roots with my hair down, if I clip half it up you can still see roots!!! I thought a full head of highlights would cover all the roots? That's why I got the full head and not a half head!!!

Im naturally a dark blond and for the past few years i've got highlights to make it bright blond and yes they never colour the bottom but usually they will put the packet (the silver/paper slips) under a strand of hair, cover down to the end of the strip and then fold it over...Therefore the majority of the colour goes on the root (as the theory behind it is that hair grows, roots develop and so this is where the colour is needs while the end should not of lost as much colour)... if you find your roots are alot lighter than the ends u need to ask her to colour it all..she'll prob charge u more and disagree thou...

With regard to the extentions...I myself have never got them but...firstly in your hairdressers defense theya re trained to make the end of a persons hair straight and this means they get rid of all dead ends, therefore it may be better to let her do this as then get layers all over...
I know from friends who get extensions that when they put it in they either need to get it layered into their hair by a hairdresser or just do it themselves!

If your not confindent with you hairdresser just change, hair will always grow at the end of the day!

Ive also found this with hairdressers, not too cool at ~€170 a go:(

€170 a go? Sweet mothering jaysus! I've been getting the same thing done for years and have to say I've never noticed that. Although I'm naturally very fair anyway so maybe that's something to do with it.

    Ok,
while training as a hairdressor, in order to cut the lenght to "one lenght" you generally blunt cut .. she can always thin out layers or texturise at the end to soften hard lines.... and most should be capeable of doing that for you.

Highlights are called highlights not all over colour - highlights are not meant to give 100% coverage. and they wont.
If you want 100% coverage the only way to get it is an all over colour. However, it does make re-growth more noticeable as it will be a solid regrowth line.

Colour applied to top half of foil packet means that there was sufficient colour on the ends and your hair did not require any more (which is over processing and causes damage- so your hairdressor was actually doing the technically correct thing)

Maybe i should start doing hair again... i miss it a bit...

she shouldn't, if you just ask her to refresh the ends she will do it for you..
