Ok, so I've got a brand new mba from the States which is supposed to have a battery life of 5 hours. But mine will charge fully and only last 2 hours. I using an adapter on the plug, could this be the problem? Its just that even Apple said that that would work grand but its not.

Is everything turned up full? Brightness/volume and wifi on? My mum's averages about 3 and a half on full everything.

Yup, and have it set to better energy saving. I have a couple of friends that have the mba as well and they get at least 4 and a half hours out of it.

Wi-Fi and screen brightness are the biggest influences on battery life (apart from processor load, of course) - check that your friends' MBA's are set up the same as yours before worrying about you battery.

Don't forget that a battery only develops its full capacity after about two full discharge/recharge cycles - has yours been through this many yet?

If your battery checks out as above, and your friends' MBA's are similarly set up, then try swapping batteries temporarily to see if your battery or your MBA is the issue...

You can't remove a MBA battery.

OK, fair enough (I only have hands-on experience with MacBook and MacBook Pro) :o

    Is Bluetooth enabled ?

That can be a drain on battery life too, and sometimes people forget to disable it.
