As the date draws near can we start a list of car distubutors that have announced there increases/decreases.

We know BMW/Mini have passed on the savings but who else.

Was in to Saab yesterday, and they've dropped the 93 1.9 TTiD 180 Aero by the full VRT decrease and a bit extra as well - couldn't be competing with BMW I suppose.

Some manufacturers are advertising "buy this model now before the VRT increase in July". Mostly petrol models which obviously are increasing in July.

Most are keeping their cards close to their chest until as late as possible. Maybe waiting to see what their respective rivals do first.

Like BMW who are passing the savings on to their customers, the likes of Audi, Lexus and MB will probably have to follow suit to stay competitive.

All of BMW's rivals have some distance to go to match BMW for emissions..... BMW didn't pass on the VRT savings for the good of their health you know:p! Of course it makes them look good and more affordable to the masses...well you can see where this is going really:D(BMW sales are at rock bottom at the moment, down almost 1000 compared to the same time last year, they registered just 145 cars in April this year compared to 712 for April 07)!

Though it must be pointed out that Audi's A3, A4 and A5 will shortly be able to get fairly close to BMW too, the facelifted A3 is nearly as good and in the odd occasion even better than the 1 series, the A4 2.0 TDI will be in the same VRT bracket as the 318d/320d and will also be available in 120 and 170 bhp guises in addition to the 143 bhp version presently on sale, and the 2.0 TFSI does only 154 g/km in a manual so the 211 bhp version undercuts the 325i, the A5 gets VRT cuts in most models, the A8 already matches the 7 series(for now until the new 7 series later on this year with EfficientDynamnics) and the facelifted A6 will make great inroads on the 5 series when it comes out later on this year(well into the Autumn), but they're the only ones with any hope at all.

Nevertheless BMW are in the clear lead, and some might say that the shake up in dealer standards was "co-incidental"(big cough) to say the least;)!

I would be amazed if any of the prestige rivals didn't copy BMW in the end(I'm thinking Merc, Audi, Lexus, Saab, Volvo etc), simply because with the honourable exception of Audi, and a couple of models here and there from others, they're f***ed from July even if they do pass on savings since BMW are so far ahead of them, and Audi very much doing their dammdest to catch up with them.
