    Hi,

Anyone been to islands off Honduras?
    Such as Roatan?

Looking to head there in september on my RTW trip when is the Hurricane season?

Yep been there, Roatan isn't really known for its beaches, scuba diving is the only game in town and it has some of the cheapest diving in the world there. At certain times of the year its also a fab place to do snorkelling with whale sharks, an experience which is highly recommended.

From the reviews ive been reading there seems to be alot of power outages and lots of mossies is this true?

What are the other islands like?
Ive a spare week travelling up from S.America and North after Rio, Buenos Aires and Lima dont like the look of Mexico.

Unless you are there for scuba I wouldnt really recommend Roatan, its pretty much all that happens there, everyone talks about it non stop- if you dont dive it can get a bit annoying after a while. As for power cuts, yes a few times but never for longer than half an hour, mossies, not huge amounts of them, certainly bearable.

I cant really recommend any places in Honduras as Roatan was the only island I went to ( for a weeks diving of course:-). If you are looking for a beach to chill out on for a week I can recommend Zipolite in Mexico, down from Acapulco. Its a backpacker kinds beach with some good parties at night and great waves to swim in during the day, things are alot cheaper there than at the big Mexican resorts like Acapulco and Yucatan, Playa del Carmen, etc.

Though if I had a spare week Id go to Lake Aticlan beside Panajachel in Guatemala- its a lake surrounded by 3 volcanoes, chilled out little travellers town, good treking around the volcanoes and cheap as chips.
