My Girlfriend cant use her 3mobile Broadband with her macbook pro, it keeps telling her that its not a secure connection and it wont allowher access any web pages. Does anybody else use 3 broadband? is there a setting on OSX she can change or something.

    Cheers for any help.

You need to use the CD that comes with the modem, the software on 3's site is hopelessly out of date (PM me if you need me to make it available online for you)

I managed to get the modem connected with the light flicking green and all that, the staus bar at the top right of the secreen tells me I'm connected as well but it simply wont load any web pages, in Firefox it has the status "stopped" and in Safari it tells me it cant reach the remote server.

we haven't bought any credit yet (as per the shops advice) and are just trying to check that we can get working in our location. we were told we would be able to log on to www.mythree.ie for free and could check it that way, but so far nothing.

One more thing. is the mini-USB connection to the modem pushed in fully. It should 'click' in but it can be awkward to seat initially if you afraid to push it hard

If the light is flicking green then its not connected....

The light should be a solid colour

Edit: Nevermind, I see they changed the modem so I got my one...

It flicks green and then goes solid, its defo connected, but I still cant view any pages, its a bit annoying to say the least.

There is absolutely no problem using the the 3 datamodem with a Mac. The only problem is the performance of 3's network. The software version available online from 3 is version 2.7 but you can get v2.8 from three.co.uk.

Have you definitely entered the APN 3ireland.ie?

Its defo connected, the modem tells me its connected and the Mac tells me its connected but for some reason Safari and Firefox dont seem to know about it.

I suspect it one of two reasons: Firstly, software, we're running the latest version of OSX, I imagine we need the latest version of 3's software. Secondly, despite what we were told in the store i think if we bought some credit it might magically come alive. If this turns out to be the case I will be very angry.

don't know if this helps, I have 3 broadband in aus and the instructions were out of date for leopard. I went to the shop and they fixed it but when i re installed OSX i need to do it again so i googled it.

    http://blog.evandavey.com/2008/02/how-to-connect-huawei-e220-usb-modem.html

this is what i found. basically some extra instructions, might help.

It works perfectly with OS X leopard 10.5.2 and with the existing version of the three driver -no update is needed, though the 2.8 driver and software interface available on the 3UK website could be described as a little less of a user-hostile effort from Huawei.

However, if no credit it just ain't gonna work......why don't you just put some on?
