Hi i was wondering if anyone came across the same problem as i am having... i have a Dell Inspiron laptop and for the last while my cd drive wont work. When i put in a cd it starts of half spin but then nothing. it wont recognise that i have a cd in it etc... i thought that the lens might be dirty so i bought a dvd laser lens cleaner from the laptop shop. but the problem is still there. my laptop seems to recognise Dvds and i just dont know why....

your help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks
    :)

Saw this in another Inspiron lately. I think the CD laser had failed but the one for DVDs was working just fine.

Might be worth keeping a look out for a cheap replacement on eBay.

A new optical drive should be cheap enough (around €50) and they are fairly easy to install.
