Surfing in Galway..where to go?

    ]Afew lads thinking about going on a surfing weekend (around galway area). Just looking for some advice on where to go? were all first timers so any info on equipment and lessons would be appreciated....Also if we were to stay the night nearby nightlife....thanks

    Very little chance of any surf in the Galway city environs unfortunately. The closest regular surfing spot would be Fanore, its a lovely spot at the most northwesterly point of Co. Clare. Its just across the bay from the city, about a 60-90 minute drive. There's a surf school there too: http://www.surfschool.tv/

    Lahinch is a little further away but takes roughly the same amount of time to get to.
