integration with partial fractions question.

    ive a question thats integration by partial fractions
    the equation is (3x^2-12s+1)/((s-3)(s-1)(s+1))


    i was told that it should work out like

    int(17/4 )/(s-3)-(3/2)/(s-1)+(1/4)/(s+1)
    =17/4*ln(s-3)-3/2ln(s-1)+1/4ln(s+1)+c

    so to get this should solve it for a b and c i think which is

    a/(s-3)+b/(s-1)+c/(s+1) i think but where do i go from here ?

    Is that X a typo?

    If it is, just add the three fractions together, using the least commmon denominator, which is (s-3)(s-1)(s+1)

    You'll get a quadratic in s as the numerator, with coefficients a, b and c. Equate those coefficients to the coefficients in your original equation, and you'll get a system of three equations in three unknowns.
