booting problem......

    The machine is a Dell Precision 470. Not sure what speed processor is in this one, but its running WinXP-Pro 32-bit with 2GB of Ram and a nVidia Quadro graphics card,not sure what model.

    Anyway, it posts boots into windows lets you log in, but just after you sign in it screen just shows the background, then a single beep from the mother board and it totally freezes up.

    Any ideas, or should I just start taking things out one by one to rule out faulty ram,gpu etc?

    Will it start in Safe Mode? Try the RAM first.
