Does anybody know here I can get some nitrocellulose laquer for my guitar buid project? There's loads of sites in the UK and US that supply it but they can't ship it because it's a hazardous substance.

Slightly OT but could someone recommend something for cleaning/polishing Nitro surfaces?

    Guitarbuilder:-
I have been looking for Nitro for a few months and cant find anywhere in Ireland. There is an altrernative water based lacquer on stewmwac that probably isn’t as good as nitro, but they will ship it to Ireland.

Not sure if they are usable on a nitro surface, but stewmac also sell polishing compounds. You will also need some polishing pads (these can be attached to a standard drill). I think you need a separate pad for each of the three polishes (different coarseness), but if its a pre-finished guitar, you might not need all 3 compounds. Heres a link:-

They also have some tips and instructions on their website about how to apply the polish, etc. this link deals with polishing a new guitar project:-

you can buy it in MRCB paints in town by the gallon

I also have a gallon tub at home, you're welcome to some of it if you want.

I use T-cut (to remove scratches), Turtle wax polish and a nice Meguiars cloth. I got all the stuff in Halfords. :)

That sounds a bit safer than taking a drill near it! ;) So it wouldnt damage the finish or anything, and you find it decent?

Yep. Polish and buff it by hand, I wouldn't take a buffer to it either. There's the possibility of rubbing through the finish. Granted you still have that possibility doing it by hand but less of a chance. Your arm would probably fall off before that happened! :pac:
