Ok so for the past week or so my kitchen sink in my apartment has really smelled, it is coming up from the plughole and making the kitchen/living room smell too.

I have tried everything I could think of, mr muscle drain and plughole ubblocker, twice. Parazone, two bottles of the mr muscle stronger unblocker stuff, and last night baking soda and vinegar. The smell goes for an hour and then it is back. Should I take the u bend apart or does it sound like an external issue? Any other ideas would be great.

Unscrew the ubend as it may be something there but the u bend should be filled with water to stop smells/gases comming up into the room, maybe it is partially blocked or incorrectly fitted. Either way removing it is the way to start,.

Its weird because the water seems to be going down OK. Thank god it is hot, dont know how I would stick it without the door wide open. I'm gonna ask my oh so lucky other half to take it apart tonight.:D

The smell could also be coming from the washing machine if it is plumbed into the same pipe either above the u-bend,you could try putting your machine on the hottest cycle with nothing in it to clear the smell away

If you dont have one already, nip down to your local hardware and pick up a plunger. I love the things! I 2nd the washing machine idea, but I'd give the plunger a go too. :)
