Did a quick search but didnt find any threads that answered this.

I'm after buying a DELL XPS M1530 laptop and want to connect wirelessly to the internet. We've wireless broadband from a local company- small dish on the roof of the house, cable runs from this to a small white box, (p + data out) and a cale runs from this (data in) straight into the back of the desktop and to the xbox.

What do i need to buy to connect the laptop to the internet? is it just a case of buying a wireless router? do i need to buy a modem? would i be able to have both the computer/xbox and the laptop connected to the internet at the same time?

By the sounds of it just a wifi router will do you, post up who the wireless provider is and the make and model of the white box so others can google for you!

Buy a plain wireless router with no integrated modem, such as the Linksys WRT54G (just an example, but they are popular). Connect ethernet cable from broadband box to WAN port and clients connect wirelessly to the router.
